REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Geology or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of experience in vertebrate paleontology-related work, especially with Miocene vertebrates.
Experience in field processing of micropaleontological samples, especially for the recovery of microvertebrates.
Experience using stereomicroscopes or binocular microscopes.
TASKS TO BE PERFORMED
  1. Washing and sorting microvertebrates and other support activities in the field or laboratory within the framework of paleontological fieldwork led by ICP researchers or provided to third parties.
  2. Occasional support for fossil collections and databases, i.e. cataloguing and inventorying fossils recovered during micropaleontological sample processing.
  3. Occasional support to ICP researchers in other lab tasks, such as taking measurements and samples, or capturing and editing photographs.
  4. With the approval of the research group leader or corresponding area head, assistance to external researchers within the framework of strategic collaborations (approved by the Head of the Research Department) or services provided to third parties.
  5. Collaboration with researchers in the research group or technical area staff to achieve specific objectives aligned with ICP’s strategic goals and scientific policy, including publications and conference contributions (with prior authorization from the group leader or area head).
EVALUATION CRITERIA
  1. Experience writing field reports and documentation
  2. Knowledge of field techniques used to process sediment samples for fossil microvertebrate recovery
  3. Knowledge of laboratory techniques for sorting sediment to recover microfossils, especially microvertebrates
