My research career has focused on the study of deep geological processes and paleontology, integrating two complementary lines: the geodynamics of subduction zones and paleoenvironmental reconstruction based on mineralogy and geochemistry in paleontological sites. This combination has allowed me to produce original results in interdisciplinary fields, supported by publications in international high-impact journals and participation in competitive research projects.
In an initial stage, I developed pioneering work on the taphonomy of fossils in metamorphic rocks, published in Palaios (Q2, 2015) and the Spanish Journal of Palaeontology (2015). These contributions, which are very rare in the literature, demonstrated how metamorphic processes affect fossil preservation and biostratigraphic interpretation, strengthening my profile at the intersection of Paleontology and metamorphic Petrology.
During my PhD (University of Jaén, 2014–2019), I studied the rodingites of Cerro del Almirez national projects on serpentinite dehydration and the deep carbon cycle. As first author, I published in Journal of Metamorphic Geology (Q1) and Lithos (Q1). These papers, with more than 60 citations, advanced the understanding of redox processes in subduction zones and demonstrated research autonomy and leadership.
Subsequently, my work expanded into Quaternary paleontology and paleoecology through research carried out at the Institut Català de Paleoecologia Humana i Evolució Social (IPHES). I have contributed to studies on the sedimentary and paleoenvironmental dynamics of the Quibas site, published in Quaternary Science Reviews (Q1) and Quaternary International (Q2). Overall, my scientific output includes more than 10 articles in indexed journals (five as first author), several book chapters, and 21 conference contributions. My h-index (6) and 93 accumulated citations reflect a growing impact.
I have also completed international research stays (Universities of Durham and Leeds, 4 months, with an international PhD distinction) and participated as the geology lead in paleontological excavations (2019–2023).
Overall, the most relevant merits of my CV are: i) a scientific output with Q1 and Q2 publications including original contributions on fossils in metamorphic rocks, subduction zone processes, and environmental geochemistry and mineralogy of Quaternary sites; ii) an international and collaborative track record in competitive projects; and iii) a multidisciplinary profile combining Petrology, Geochemistry, and Paleontology.
