Researchers from Museu Balear de Ciències Naturals (MUCBO) and Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont (ICP) have described the new reptile species Tramuntanasaurus tiai based on a well-preserved fossil skeleton found in rocks from Mallorca dating back approximately 270 million years. The research has been published today in the journal Papers in Palaeontology.

Graduated in Biology with Mentions in Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of Valencia (2017). During the universitary course 2017-2018, I studied a Master of Science (MSc) in Paleobiology and Fossil Record at Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Barcelona and Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont, in which I obtained maximum qualification with honors in Master dissertation with the tittle “New exceptional well-preserved footprints from the Muschelkalk detrital unit from the Catalan Basin”. These studies have motivated me to continue learning during the last years, taking part in different numerous excavations and carrying out an international internship in Museum für Natrukunde of Berlín in order to develop my skills in 3D modelling.
Currently, I’m a PhD student at the Institut Català de Paleontología Miquel Crusafont fund by a FI grant (Secretaria d’Universitats i Recerca de la Generalitat de Catalunya and the European Social Fund, (ref. 2020 FI_B 00472)). In my project, Paleodiversity of vertebrates from Permian and Triassic from NE of the Iberian Peninsula, I study direct (bones) and indirect (ichnites) remains of the terrestrial tetrapod faunas from Permian and Triassic Units from Catalunya and surrounding basins.

Paleobiología computacional

BSc(Hons) in Biology (Universitat de València, Spain, 2013), he completed his MSc in Paleontology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2015) with a thesis entitled: New insights in a purported pterosaur pellet from the Upper Triassic of Friuli (NE Italy). From that time began his relation with ICP developed through the advisory of Josep Fortuny and Fabio M. Dalla Vecchia. Since 2016, Borja was granted by a PhD fellowship at the Museu Nacional / Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), where he is finishing his doctoral research under the advisory of Alexander W. A. Kellner and co-advisory of Josep Fortuny. His PhD focuses on the structure and evolution pterosaur postcranial skeletal pneumaticity compared with birds. His research also comprises other topics as with pterodactyloid phylogeny and pterosaur paleobiology, including the description of several new pterosaur species.
